New Volvo EC35 Arrives
The new Volvo EC35 mini excavator has arrived.
As predicted in the last issue of Didcot Plant News the deal was completed to add this new 3.5-tonne mini to the hire fleet following a successful demonstration period.
The new machine represents a landmark for the firm as it is the 3000th item of equipment in company history.
As a leader in its class, the Volvo EC35 offers an impressive all around package with benefits for both the operator and mechanic.
The Load Sensing Hydraulic System allows for very precise controls under all load conditions. It balances the hydraulic system with engine power for improved fuel economy.
Volvo have also taken great care with the cab area. It allows for excellent visibility and is designed for comfort with an ergonomically created seating position.
Also, placed within the operator’s line of vision, an instrument panel provides all the useful machine control information. This allows the operator to monitor performance at all times.
From the maintenance point of view there is excellent access to the engine, valves and hydraulics.
Volvo claim the EC35 offers equivalent performance to 4-tonne machines currently on the market. This claim was born out by the experiences of contractors R & D McBain of Faringdon. Managing Director, Ron McBain, said, “We were very impressed with the EC35. It felt like you were driving a much bigger machine than just 3.5 tonnes.”
The Volvo EC35 3.5-tonne excavator is available for hire at £320 per week + vat.
Doctors on Call
You can see the doctor now at Didcot Plant following the purchase of three Lawn Doctors and a Turf Doctor from Didcot based manufacturer, Allen Power Equipment Ltd.
This 16″ Lawn Doctor scarifier is designed for both private and professional use and is ideal for most lawn situations. It is well balanced and easy to use and the depth control dial allows for very accurate operation.
Larger jobs are covered by the 20″ Turf Doctor scarifier, built with the rigours of professional use in mind.
The Lawn Doctor is available for hire at £25 + vat for a day or £50 + vat for a week. The Turf Doctor is £35 + vat for a day and £70 + vat for a week.

New Earth Auger
A new Stihl BT360 2-man earth auger has been added to the hire fleet.
This auger, modelled below by hire assistants Paul Tappin and John Knight, is supplied with a choice of either 6″, 8″ or 10″ auger bits.
The BT60 auger can be hired for £30 + vat for a day or £60 + vat for a week.
Cordless Jigsaw
Cordless tools are becoming increasingly popular and DeWalt are leading the way.
The DW933K 18v Heavy Duty Cordless Jigsaw, demonstrated below by Martyn Birch, offers high performance with all the convenience of cordless.
Other items from the DeWalt Cordless range will soon be added to the hire fleet.
The DW933K is available for hire at £14.50 + vat for a day or £29 + vat for a week.
