Keep Warm and Dry This Winter

Photo of heaters and building dryersKeep warm and dry this winter with our extensive range of heaters and building dryers.

Whatever the situation there is a heater to suit it.

For a workshop environment or where instant heat is required the propane or oil fired space heaters are ideal.

If you have a site office or tea room to heat there are the cabinet and dustbin heaters.

If dry heat is a requirement there is the choice of either fan heaters, ceramic or quartz heaters.

If you need to dry out a room we have either the Andrews HD500 or FD30 building dryers available.

The HD500 will dry out an area of 400 cubic metres and the FD30 175 cubic metres.

Making the Earth Move

Photo of Thwaites 6-tonne Alldrive Dumper and Honda Powered WheelbarrowIt’s the little and large show of earth moving this October with the purchase of a Thwaites 6-tonne Alldrive Dumper and a Honda Powered Wheelbarrow.

At the larger end of the scale, the Thwaites 6-tonne Alldrive Dumper boasts a Perkins 1000 series 4-cylinder turbocharged water-cooled engine providing 90 bhp.

The generous skip will handle a maximum load of 6000 kg or 34000 litres heaped. The struck capacity is 2525 litres.

It is fitted with torque converter 4 speed forward and reverse powershuttle transmission with column mounted directional control. At 16.5mph in fourth gear it is no slouch.

Perfect for the smaller job, the Honda Powered Wheelbarrow provides material carrying capability in a more portable package.

With a width of just 650mm there are few places that the Honda ‘Barrow will not go. And at 500 kg per trip it beats trudging back and forth with a conventional wheelbarrow.

The Power ‘Barrow’s Hydrostatic Speed Control means that acceleration is always smooth and its low centre of gravity provides for superb stability. It is also an exceptionally safe machine to use, with Deadman’s controls on both handles.

The 6-tonne dumper is available for hire at £200 per week + vat and the Power ‘Barrow at £90 per week + vat.

Cool Volvo Ready for Summer

Photo of Volvo EC55The new Volvo EC55 5-tonne excavator has arrived and it is a cool machine.

With air conditioning as standard the driver can stay cool, calm and collected whatever the weather. Combine this with a modern, spacious cab and the EC55 offers a level of comfort worthy of heavier machines. The inclusion of a radio/cassette player and tinted windows just top off what is a superb machine to operate.

From a performance point of view the powerful yet quiet 2.8 litre engine combines with the latest hydraulic technology to provide a high level of perfromance and shorter cycle times. The bucket forces and the displacements are said by Volvo to be the best on the market.

The machine has a long undercarriage that offers superb stability. This contributes to improved safety whilst reducing ground pressure.

Refuelling of this new EC55 could not be easier with the inclusion of an electric pump. The external gauge allows for fuel levels in the large 90 litre tank to be monitored from outisde the cab as well as in.

Servicing of the machine is also made easy when the wide soundproofed engine cover is opened completely. The excellent accessibility provided means all the servicing and inspection points are comfortably at hand.

All in all the new Volvo EC55 excavator offers the full package when the job demands a mini with a bit more umph!

New Depot Proving a Big Success

Photo of the new Didcot Plant depot at Basil RoadIt is hard to believe but already six months have passed since we moved into our new premises in Basil Hill Road, Didcot.

It took a week or two to get used to the new surroundings, but as soon as we were settled in the advantages of the new site were clear.

At Basil Hill Road we have a substantially larger yard area. This allows for ease of movement for lorries and vehicles within the yard, both ours and those of customers and visitors.

“It is great to have so much room for lorries to manoeuvre,” says workshop manager, Tony Newman, “And being so close to the A34 and perimeter roads is a major plus.”
